Origin
In 1941 the World Students 'Day was launched by the International Students' Council to remember the student protests of 1939 in Prague. The students resisted the occupation of the Nazis. Nine of the activists were killed without further negotiations, more than 1.200 students were sent to concentration camps.
Today is a holiday in the Czech Republic due to these events.
